7th Nov: Borussia Dortmund stole the victory from Newcastle United with a 2-0 score down and keep their first position secured in the Group F. 

8th Nov: Lazio beat Feyenoord by 1-0 to secure their 2nd place in the Group E of the Champions League. 

8th Nov: Antwerp loses its fourth consecutive match in the Group stage to FC Porto, who won the match with a score of 2-0. 

8th Nov: Manchester City crushes FC Young Boys by defeating them with a 3-0 score. Star footballer Erling Halland scored 2 goals at 23 min and 51 min, respectively.

22nd Oct: India maintains their unbeaten World Cup streak after defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets. Virat Kohli missed his century and scored 95 runs before giving a catch to G. Phillips. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, too, missed his half-century after getting bowled out on 46 runs by L. Ferguson.

23rd Oct: In an interesting series of events, Afghanistan beat Pakistan to win the match by 8 wickets. Pakistan gave a target of 283 runs which the Afghanistan team successfully chased in 49 overs. The Afghanistan batting lineup performed exceptionally well and played a significant role in making this historic win possible. 

24th Oct: South Africa crushed Bangladesh to win the match by a whopping 149 runs. The South African team won the toss and elected to bat first. They downed a score of 382/5 with star performer Quinton de Kock smashing a magnificent 174 off 140 deliveries. 

Kock broke the record for the highest score of 174 by a wicketkeeper in a World Cup match. Previously this record was held by Australia’s Adam Gilchrist with a score of 149 in the 2007 ODI World Cup Final. 

25th Oct: 

This Cricket World Cup is becoming popular for its fury of record-breaking and the next match in the list proves so. 

Australia registered their biggest-ever win in a World Cup event against Nederlands after defeating them by 309 runs. Australia won the toss and chose to bat first. Glen Maxwell broke another record and became the fastest player to score a century in a World Cup. He took 40 deliveries to smash a spectacular hundred.  

26th Oct:  Sri Lanka registered a win against England and won the match by 8 wickets. The Sri Lankan team amazed everyone with their terrific bowling and stumped the entire British team at a low score of 156/10 in 33.2 overs. Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama gave brilliant performances and remained not out at 77 and 65 respectively. Sri Lanka won the match in 25.4 overs.

24th Oct: Bayern Munich beats Galatasaray by 3-1 to maintain the top position in Group A. On the other hand, Inter Milan defeated RB Salzburg with a score of 2-1.

25th Oct: Arsenal secures the top position in Group B by beating Sevilla with a 2-1 touchdown score. 

25th Oct: Real Madrid won its third group match by defeating Braga with a score of 2-1. Rodrygo scored in the first 16 min of the match to give Real Madrid the lead. Jude Bellingham sealed the match with another goal at 61 minutes. 

26th Oct: PSG crushed AC Milan with an intense showdown of 3 terrific goals and dominance throughout the match. They won the match with a score of 3-0.

14th Oct: In the highly anticipated India Vs Pakistan match, India thrashed Pakistan to win the match by 7 wickets. Pakistan’s entire team was washed out by India at a score of 191 in 42.5 overs. Jasprit Bumrah was announced as the Player of the match with bowling figures 2/19 (7).

15th Oct: In an odd display of events, Afghanistan defeated ex-world champions England by 69 runs. Afghanistan batted first and gave a target of 284 to England. Surprisingly, Afghanistan bowlers went all for it and managed to dismiss the entire England team at 215 in 40.3 overs. Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman both took 3 wickets each. 

16th Oct: Australia beat Sri Lanka to win the match by 5 wickets. Australia scored 215/5 in 35.2 overs while the Sri Lankan team was completely dismantled at 209 runs.

17th Oct: The Netherlands got appreciation from cricketing fans worldwide as they beat the world-class South African team by 38 runs. The Netherlands played first and gave a target of 246 to South Africa. The South African team couldn’t reach the target and lost all their wickets at 207 runs. 

18th Oct:  New Zealand played against Afghanistan to beat them by 149 runs. New Zealand scored 288/6 in 50 overs, while Afghanistan was bowled out at a mere 139 runs in just 34.4 overs. 

19th Oct: India beat Bangladesh and won the match by 7 wickets. Bangladesh played first to score 256/8 in 50 overs. India successfully chased down the target in 41.3 overs, securing the fourth successive victory in the World Cup. Virat Kohli was awarded the Player of the Match award.

19th Oct: India’s star shutter PV Sindhu reaches quarter-finals after beating Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung at the Jyske Bank Arena, Odense, in the round of 16. After a shaky start and a lost lead, PV Sindhu made a terrific comeback and won the match with scores 18-21, 21-15, and 21-13. PV Sindhu will now meet Thailand’s Supanida Katethong in the quarter-finals.  
19th Oct: India’s A. Kashyap could not advance to the quarter-final stage after facing defeat from Thailand’s S. Katethong with scores 21-18 and 21-8.

7th Oct: South Africa defeated Sri Lanka and won the match by 102 runs. South Africa scored a massive 428, with trio R. Dussen, A. Markram, and Q. de Kock scoring a century.   

8th Oct: India dominated the Australian team in its first match and clinched the victory by 6 wickets. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli performed terrifically and scored 97 and 85, respectively. 

10th Oct: Sri Lanka had a close contest with Pakistan (SL-344/9, Pak-345/4) in which the Pakistan team grabbed victory over Sri Lanka in the second last over.

11th Oct: Afghanistan lost to India by 8 wickets with scores AFG – 272/8 (50) and India – 273/2 (35). Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made 131 runs of 84 deliveries and was awarded the Man of the Match. 

12th Oct: South Africa dominated the Australian team by scoring 311 runs for 7 wickets and later wiping out the entire Australian team at a mere 177 runs. Rabada gave the best bowling spell in the match with 3 wickets for 33 runs in 8 overs.

Unluckily, Shubham Kewat finished 7th in the Final and lost the event to China’s Quan Xin, who won the gold medal.   

8th Oct: The Asian Games officially closes in Hangzhou, China, with a vibrant and colorful last-day ceremony. India finished 4th in the table and secured a total of 107 medals in all events, with 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze.

This week’s excitement starts with the commencement of the eagerly-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. 

5th Oct: Tournament’s first match resulted in a 9-wicket victory for New Zealand against England. England gave a target of 282 runs, which the New Zealand team chased in 36.2 overs. 

The highly anticipated India Vs. Australia match is set to happen on 8th October, Sunday. 

6th Oct: India clinched victory against Bangladesh by nine wickets in the Asian Games semi-finals and ensured a silver medal by reaching the finals. 

India will now meet up with Afghanistan on Oct 7 in the finals.

Now covering the key highlights of last week’s events happened in the Asian Games 2023. Thumping with glory, India reached 95 medals in the Asian Games 2023. 

4th Oct: The Indian Men’s Hockey team eliminates South Korea in the semi-finals to enter the finals and play against Japan.

5th Oct: In the Women’s Hockey semi-final match, India lost to China with a score of 0-4.  

6th Oct: India secures the gold medal by defeating Japan with a score of 5-1 in the Asian Games Men’s Hockey Final.

Sep 24th: In the 2nd ODI match between India and Australia, India thrashed the Aussies to win the match by 99 runs (DLS Method). India constituted a massive score of 399/5, with Shreyas Iyer and Shubhman Gill, both scoring a century. 

Sep 27th: Team Australia took back their revenge on India in the last ODI match as Australian batters whipped Indian bowlers to win the match by 66 runs. Australia batted first and scored 352/7. The Indian team was all washed out at a score of 286 runs.

Sep 24th: India’s Sharath Kamal and team progress further to the quarterfinals by beating Kazakhstan with a score of 3-2 (5-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-9).

However, in the quarter-final game played later that day, Indian men lost 0-3 against Republic of Korea. Harmeet Desai lost his first match 0-3 to An Jaehyun to start the series of losses.

Sep 24th: In the football game, India drew a match against Myanmar with a score of 1-1 and advanced to the round of 16. 

Sep 24th: The Indian men’s volleyball team gets beaten up by Japan with a humiliating 3-round defeat (16-25, 18-25, and 17-25).

17th Sep: Beginning with the Cricket world, India crushed Sri Lanka to win the Asia Cup 2023 by a whopping 10-wicket victory. India’s Mohammad Siraj shined to glory by taking 6 wickets and giving a mere 21 runs. India destroyed the Sri Lankan batting lineup by ceasing them at only 50 runs and winning the match in 6.1 overs. 

All the World Cup qualifying teams will now be looking forward to the ICC World Cup 2023, starting from 5th October. 

In the Asian Games 2023 Women’s Cricket Quarter-finals, India Vs Malaysia and Pakistan Vs Indonesia were washed off with rain. However, both India and Pakistan qualified for the next stage because of their higher T20 international ranking.

Moving on to football, the Asian Games 2023 commences in Hangzhou, China, with several thrilling events taking place.

19th Sep: India faced the host China in its first group stage match, where India witnessed a humiliating defeat with a score of 5-1. The Indian team looked extremely fatigued during the match, raising questions about the team’s management. 

21st Sep: Fortunately, India made a comeback by defeating Bangladesh by 1-0. South Korea, on the other hand, triumphed over team Thailand by winning the match with a score of 4-0.

After the game was postponed to the reserve day, India beat  Pakistan and won the match by 228 runs. Indian ex-skipper Virat Kohli gave one of his best performances, scoring 122 runs off 94 balls. 

12th Sep: Following the match with Pakistan, India faced its down-south counter, Sri Lanka. Batting first on the field, India gave Sri Lanka a chase down of 213 runs. India managed to restrict the Lankan side from reaching the target and won the match by 41 runs to reach the Asia Cup Final. 

14th Sep: After getting defeated by India, the Sri Lankan team scaled up their performance in their next match against Pakistan. In an extremely intense and heart-thumping playoff, Sri Lanka took the lead over Pakistan and beat them by 2 wickets, securing a place in the finals. 

India is now supposed to play the Asia Cup 2023 Finals with Sri Lanka on Sunday, 17th September.

2nd Sep: India won the inaugural Men’s Hockey5s after beating archrivals Pakistan with a score of 2-0 in the shootout after regulation time ended with a tie of 4-4. 

5th Sep: Badminton stars HS Prannoy And Lakshya Sen both faced crushing defeats and had to face early elimination from the China Open Super 1000 badminton tournament. 

World’s #6 badminton player, Prannoy, played exceptionally well but couldn’t stop the storm coming from Malaysia’s Ng Tze Yong and was defeated by a score of 12-21, 21-13, and 18-21.

On the contrary, Lakshya Sen, was crashed out of the tournament after losing to Denmark’s Anders Antonsen with a score of 21-23, 21-16, and 9-21.

8th Sep: India’s Manav Thakkar made it through the pre-quarterfinals of the Asian Table Tennis Championships in Pyeongchang, South Korea, after beating world #33 China’s Kao Cheng-Jui with a 3-1 score.

Hello, sports enthusiasts! The week has gone by, and now it’s time to revisit our sports news weekly roundup. Join us as we uncover the past week’s most exhilarating sports moments. 

Starting from the world of Cricket, Asia Cup 2023 commences with Pakistan outplaying Nepal in a one-sided game and beating them with a whopping margin of 238 runs. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, began its Asia Cup journey by facing and defeating Bangladesh by five wickets. The most awaited India-Pakistan match is scheduled at Kandy, Sri Lanka, for 2nd September. However, the likelihood of the occurrence of the game is still debated due to bad weather conditions.

Moving on to Football, India’s elite football club, Mohun Bagan, will meet with East Bengal to play the Durand Cup Final 2023 on 3rd September, Sunday. Both teams have lifted the Durand Cup trophy 16 times each. 

AIFF (All India Football Federation) announces its 23-member squad for the 49th King’s Cup football tournament and benches skipper Sunil Chettri as Manvir Singh replaces him to lead the way for team India. Chettri, who reportedly had a son recently, is given rest for a while and is expected to return for the Asian Games. 

In the English Premier League, Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest by 3-2 in their home stadium of Old Trafford. Arsenal, conversely, had a tough game with rivals Fulham, which ended in a draw as Fulham’s Joao Palhinha scored the equalizer in the 87th minute of the game, drawing the match by 2-2 for his team.

Now hoping on to badminton, India’s HS Prannoy had to settle for the bronze medal in the World Badminton Championship as Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn outplayed Prannoy with a score of 18-21, 21-13, and 21-14 to secure a place in the final. Kunlavut Vitidsarn further went on to win the Championship by beating Japan’s Kodai Naraoka with a victory score of 19-21, 21-18, and 21-7 in Copenhagen.

Marching forward to field hockey, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team defeats Thailand by 7-2 in the final to win the inaugural Women’s Hockey 5s Asia Cup. On the contrary, the Indian Men’s Hockey team relentlessly crushed Japan by scoring 35 goals in a single match to win the quarter-final of the Asian Hockey 5s World Cup. India is currently standing in the second position in the tournament below Pakistan, which is the only team to beat India in this tournament by a score of 4-5. India will play the semi-final match against Malaysia, Japan or Iran on September 2.

Lastly, not to forget, India’s Neeraj Chopra made his country proud by clinching his maiden World Championships title with a throw of 88.17m in Budapest. The unstoppable youngster further went down to accomplish another achievement as he finished 2nd at the Zurich Diamond League. Chopra recorded the best throw of the game, which was 85.71 meters, which helped him secure the second spot. Unfortunately, Chopra lost the first place by a mere 0.15 meters to Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch.

Latest Sports News in August 3rd Week 2023

Welcome back to our Sports News Weekly updates, where we provide a comprehensive roundup of the past week’s thrilling events from the dynamic world of international sports. 

Beginning with the Chess World Cup 2023, India’s 18-year chess prodigy R Pragganandha finishes second as Norway’s Magnus Carlsen lifts the World Cup trophy. Following a draw in the first two games, Carlsen won the first tiebreaker game before drawing the second to claim his first World Cup title.

Now streaming to the cricketing world, the Indian women’s blind cricket team created history by entering the finals of the IBSA World Games by defeating England in Birmingham. It is now set to meet team Australia for the finals on the 26th of August. 

BCCI announced its squad for Asia Cup 2023, to be held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan in September. Rohit Sharma will lead team India to face its first match against rival counterpart Pakistan on 2 September 2023. 

Pakistan, on the other hand, is scoring rounds of appreciation by winning an epic last-over thriller against Afghanistan in the Super Cola Cup tournament. Chasing a huge score of 301, Pakistan’s Imam-Ul-Haq and Babar Azam provided a smooth start to the game. 

However, when the match reached its final over, Pakistan were struggling down the lane, needing 11 off the last 6 balls with only 2 wickets remaining in hand. Amazingly, Shadab Khan gave his all and managed to steer Pakistan towards the path of victory.

Hopping on to the World Athletics Championship, Spain’s Alvaro Martin and Maria Perez swept gold in the race walking. Martin finished the 35km long track to win the gold medal in 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 30 seconds. 

On the other hand, Maria Perez dominated the women’s 35km race and set the new world record of completing the race in 2:38:40. 

In the men’s long jump category, Greece’s Olympian Miltiadis Tentoglou won the men’s long jump title by jumping an 8.50m long jump in the arena. 

Another exciting news that gained traction this week was India’s Parul Chaudhary, who created history by becoming the second Indian to qualify for the last round of the track event at the World Athletics Championship. Parul ran seamlessly with an irking spirit to register her personal best time of 9 min, 24.29 seconds, earning a place in the final round.

The world of sports witnessed several thrilling and electrifying events over the past week. From memorable moments on the field to groundbreaking sports announcements, here are our latest sports news weekly updates. 

Starting from the cricketing world, England levelled the Ashes series by 2-2 each, winning the fifth and final match against Australia by 49 runs. Prominent England pace bowler Stuart Broad announces retirement from all international cricket formats after playing his last Ashes match.  

India lost its 2nd T-20 International match played at Providence Stadium against West Indies by 4 runs. However, India made a great comeback by beating West Indies by 7 wickets in the 3rd T-20 match. Currently, India is trailing in the 5-match series with a 2-1 score and is yet to play the 4th T-20 on 12th August and the 5th T-20 on 13th August consecutively.

Coming down to the field of football, Al-Nassr forward player Cristiano Ronaldo breaks the world record for scoring the most headed goals (145 goals) in the sport’s history. In a nail-biting Community Shield title match, Arsenal clinched the victory by defeating Manchester City in a penalty shootout with a 4-1 score. 

Switzerland’s star goalkeeper, Yann Sommer, leaves Bayern Munich after playing only one season and signs a contract with Inter Milan. Tottenham is going all out to retain their most dominant player Harry Kane during this transfer season and rejected Bayern Munich’s offer to buy him. 

Looking to quench the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Australia defeated Denmark by scoring 2 goals and reached the quarter-finals. It will now meet with France, on 12th August to play in the quarter-finals. The other teams that have made it to the quarter-finals are Spain, Netherlands, Japan, Sweden and England. 

The final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup will be played on 20th August at Stadium Australia. The Indian Super League (ISL) also made headlines as they added a new team, Punjab FC to the league, creating more excitement for the viewers. Punjab FC is the first ever club to be promoted to the Indian Super League by winning the 2022–23 I-League.

Group A comprises India, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong China. Whilst Group B contains Japan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan. 

Another exciting news to make the headlines this week is India’s 17-year-old Gukesh D, who made history by overtaking India’s Chess Veteran Vishwanath Anand. Currently, Gukesh has a live rating of 2755.9 in Classic Chess, while Anand has a live rating of 2754.0.
