Offense Strategies in Volleyball
An offense strategy or attack is a hit thatâs placed against the opposite team to score while a defense strategy is one thatâs played against an attack. The trick to scoring in volleyball lies in seeing where the gaps on the opposite court are.
Therefore, the success of an attack depends on how well the judgement of the hitter is; one should be able to judge the gaps that might get covered by the opposite team as a reaction.
Here are the best strategies to score in Volleyball
In this kind of play, you have 6 hitters and 2 setters. The main advantage of this strategy is that the team will always have 3 hitters in the front row and 3 passers at the back. The player in the right front row is the setter, and whoever takes the position after each rotation becomes the setter.
This strategy is great for scoring and improving the whole teamâs setting skills. A disadvantage to this kind of play is that it might get predictable for the opposite team.

4-2 Offensive System
In this kind of formation there are 2 setters and 4 hitters. This is the most common or easiest volleyball offense strategy there is. But that doesn’t disprove the efficiency of this play.
The setters are always going to be on the front row in this kind of play and itâs easier for players to follow this system as it requires lesser rotations and overlaps as opposed to other strategies, making it one of the most basic offensive systems there is in volleyball.
5-1 Offensive Play
This is another widely known strategy used in Volleyball. In this case, there is one designated setter, and 5 hitters. The system works best when the team has a very strong setter who does best in it than in any other position.
The hitters are always aware of where the setter is, which avoids confusion that might arise in other rotations. However, the fact that the setter is designated means the opposite team has an advantage of attacking at the setter.
These are the three main offensive strategies there are in the game of volleyball. When it comes to defense, the opposite players have to dig or block in order to convert the hit into an offensive opportunity.
