Why Should Playing Tennis Be Your New Year Resolution

  • December 31, 2018

As the year is winding down, everyone is coming up with a New Year’s resolution. And most of the New Year’s resolutions tend to be vague goals like losing weight, eating healthier food, or exercising more.

And most people don’t successfully follow through on these resolutions – largely because they’re so general and non-specific.

We’re getting down to crunch time, and if you still don’t have a SPECIFIC new year’s resolution for 2019, here’s the BEST one:

Play Tennis!

In our recent article, we have already discussed why learning a sport should be your New Year resolution and how it is the best way to stay happier and have a healthier life. So, instead of spending hours on the treadmill or lifting weights with a bunch of strangers, you should consider playing sports.

If you’re looking for a sport that will help you with all aspects of your health, tennis is the answer.

Believe us, it is not necessary to have proper coaching to enjoy this lovely sport (unless, if you are aiming to play at a pro level). And it’s also never too late to learn the new game. So, start playing now and get the most out of the benefits it has to offer.

We know, if you haven’t played tennis yet, you might have a pre-conceived notion of tennis being monotonous sport (two players hitting a ball back and forth across a net) but it’s anything other than being a monotonous sport.

In fact, it’s hugely varied; no other sport requires so many diverse movements. Because they involve hitting a moving ball with a racket, are technically complex: racket players must master a far broader variety of strokes than any other sports.

With swinging a racquet several hundred times, at the same time, running from corner to corner, you’ll be burning about 600 calories on an hourly basis (playing singles), which will unquestionably help you get in shape.

Tennis is also a mentally demanding game. It keeps the player’s brain engaged throughout the match. From attentiveness to tactical thinking, tennis improves the neural connections in your brain.

If you’re not convinced yet, read the following list of benefits that you can claim while having fun:

  • Live a longer life,
  • Look younger,
  • Get better problem-solving skills, (with quick thinking)
  • Have strong and healthy bones,
  • The best anger management therapy (relieve stress by smashing a ball as hard as you can)

“Tennis outperforms golf and most other sports in developing positive personality characteristics.”

Advanced players: You do not need the best tennis rackets for women for you if you are playing with the professionals. These are usually very heavy duty. The materials that make these racks are durable and will last a long time.

For @imveer_rrr, everything about sports is an emotion and that's what keeps him coming back for more.
There have been times when my failure at something discouraged me from going back to it. But I’ve noticed that this doesn’t apply to me when it comes to sports.
